Why doesn’t my air conditioning work?

After the official start of summer and the first batch of warm/humid days many people are realizing that it is too hot in their car! There are many items that can cause your AC system to malfunction. Before worrying first make sure that you have the "MAX AC" or "RECIRC" button selected to maximize the cooling capability of your car. This feature will close the outside fresh air vent and recirculate the inside air. If you still feel too warm don't despair the repair may be as simple as a minor leak in the system.#memorialday2016 #airconditioning #acrepair

How much do brakes cost? II

We frequently receive calls inquiring how much it costs to repair brakes. There is much more to a brake repair than just replacing the brake pads. The fact is that to give you a accurate estimate of the repair cost we need to inspect the braking system to determine what is needed. There are many components involved in the system that can affect the cost of the repair varying the cost from $150 to hundreds of dollars! During the inspection we will measure the "brake pad", measure the "brake rotor", inspect the brake calipers/hoses, and inspect the caliper slides; just to name a few of the many items.#brakes #brakerepair #rotor

How long will my car last?

Maintenance is the key to keeping your car running strong for many miles. A million miles even! Toyota plans to conduct a study on a customer owned 2007 "Toyota Tundra" that has one million miles. This Tundra has the original engine and transmission. The truck was discovered in perfect working condition in Houma, Louisiana. The owner Victor Sheppard has brought his Tundra in for service 117 times over a period of nine years for ‘timing belt replacements, oil changes, and regularly scheduled check-ups.' This routine maintenance has kept the tundra going. For achieving such a feat, Sheppard's truck has its own Facebook page. Sheppard has been giving a 2016 Tundra from Toyota to replace his trusty 2007, million-mile unit.#Toyota #maintenance #millionmiletoyota

How often should I change my fuel filter?

The "diesel filter" should be changed every 15,000 miles. The diesel fuel filter is often a forgotten filter. The fuel put into diesel engines can contain contaminants such as dirt, rust, scale and water. These impurities can plug fuel injectors and components resulting in engine malfunction or deterioration. These contaminants often originate from dirty and rusty storage tanks, and as the vehicle ages, from corrosion within the fuel system components. All the more reason to invest in high-quality fuel filters and to maintain them at recommended intervals. All diesel fuel contains some water, and removing it ensures longer diesel injection system life and reliability.#fuelfilter #diesel #filter

How often should I replace my engine air filter?

The engine "air filter" is responsible for preventing debris (pollen, dirt, road debris) from entering the engine. The life span of an engine air filter varies based on driving conditions. Vehicles driven in construction areas and dirt roads will collect debris quickly and require more frequent replacement. Typically an air filter will require replacement every 15,000 miles.#airfilter #15,000mile #enginefilter

What does a water pump do?

A water pump on a car or truck engine uses centrifugal force to send coolant through the cooling system while it turns. The combustion engine produces so much heat that it needs constant flow to maintain proper temperature. The fluid leaving the pump flows first through the engine block and cylinder head, then into the radiator and finally back to the pump. The flow of coolant is regulated by the thermostat and the heat from the coolant is dispersed by the radiator.#waterpump #coolant #radiator

What is a control arm bushing?

A control arm bushing is an important part of the suspension on your vehicle. Located between the control arm and the frame of the vehicle, control arm bushings dampen vibration between the wheels and frame, cushioning the ride, reducing driving noise, and preventing metal-on-metal contact. Over years and miles the bushings will deteriorate. On most vehicles the bushings are serviced separately, installed with a hydraulic press. After control arm bushing replacement the vehicle wheel alignment should be checked and adjusted.#controlarmbushing #suspension #bushing

How often should I service my differential fluid?

Differential fluid should be changed every 50,000 miles. The differential in your car, truck or SUV is a gear box located between the drive wheels. The differential allows the drive wheels to turn at different speeds for cornering. 4WD vehicles will have two differentials. Over time, high operating temperatures can cause the fluid in the differential to break down and lose the ability to properly lubricate. Servicing the fluid will help you avoid premature wear on the gears and bearings in the differential.#differential #differentialservice #gearoilKeep in mind:Some vehicles do not have a drain plug. In these vehicles, the differential cover must be removed to drain the fluid. A new gasket is installed and the proper amount of oil is then added

Why does my air conditioner not work?

You may have been surprised this spring when you turned on the air conditioner to feel luke warm air. There are many components to your vehicle "air conditioning" system that can effect its performance. One of the many main components is the refrigerant that is circulating throughout the system. The refrigerant pressure change within the system is responsible for "cooling" the incoming air. Precise refrigerant quantity is vital for proper system operation. If the system is suspected to have an improper refrigerant charge level the only proper diagnosis will be to evacuate the system and measure the refrigerant removed. If the system is found to be low on refrigerant a leak diagnosis will be required.#ac #spring #refrigerant

What does the check engine light mean?

The "check engine" light, usually an orange symbol on the vehicle dashboard, can indicate a myriad of issues. The light means that the computer in your vehicle saw a fault. Something as simple as a loose gas cap can cause this light to illuminate. Also something more complex such as a transmission fault will also illuminate the same warning light. Generally speaking if the warning light comes on you should limit driving until you have vehicle assessed to avoid breakdown and further issues. If the light is flashing you should stop driving as the "flashing check engine light" indicates a damaging misfire event. This light will not come on for routine service.#checkenginelight #warninglight #serviceengine
