How to Jump Start a Car

1. Find a set of jumper cables! It's a good idea to have jumper cables and keep them in the trunk.2. Place both vehicles in Park and shut off the engine in both cars. Engage both parking brakes as well.3. Attach one of the red clips to the positive terminal of your battery. marked in red with "+" or "pos"4. Attach the other red clip to the positive terminal of the other car. If you can not locate the battery there will be "jump start" connections under the hood5. Attach one of the black clips to the negative terminal on the other battery. marked in black with "-" or "neg"6. Attach the last black clip to a chassis ground or the negative terminal of your battery.7. start the donor vehicle and allow it to run for 5-10 minutes Patience is key here, it takes time to charge the dead battery8. start your vehicle Do not shut off you vehicle until you get it to a repair shop to have the electrical system tested. 9. disconnect all cable avoiding contact between the red and black cables. 10.
