What are the Symptoms of Clogged or Dirty Fuel Injectors?

In order for your car engine to operate smoothly, it needs the proper balance of fuel. The fuel injection system allows the fuel to be mixed with a right amount of air before entering the engine chamber. With constant use over time, fuel injectors become clogged or dirty. It will eventually need to be replaced. Here are some symptoms to look out for to know if your fuel injectors are getting bad:

Signs Of Dirty Fuel Injectors

Engine stalls or fails- If the amount of fuel needed to power the car is insufficient, the regular revolutions per minute (RPM) won't be met and the engine will stall

Engine vibrates - A dirty injector can stop the correct cylinder from firing. As a result, you may feel shakes as your car struggles to get power.

Engine misfires - A clogged injector can cause the vehicle to misfire.

Check engine light on - One of the most noticeable signs that there is a problem with your injectors is when the check engine light illuminates on your dashboard. Although it can be caused by other problems, an issue with the fuel injector is possible and shouldn't be discounted. Instead, it is best to get a technician to run a diagnostics test to be certain.

Low fuel economy When the engine doesn't get the proper amount of fuel, it overworks the injectors. The Electronic Control Unit (ECU) may get a false signal that your engine needs more fuel when it doesn't.

A professional mechanic is needed to accurately diagnose when a fuel injector has become clogged or dirty. This is because the signs can be very similar to those of worn coils or spark plugs.
