Whether it’s on the highway, when idling, when you brake or more; there are many reasons a car may be shaking. Whatever the cause though, our ASE-certified auto mechanics can diagnose and repair any trouble with any make or model, both foreign and domestic.

Why does my car shake when braking?

A common cause of vehicle vibration is warped or worn brake rotors. Modern brake pads squeeze a round disc called a rotor to slow down your car. Excessive braking, heat and age can cause these rotors to warp out of shape and result in a shaking sensation when you press the brake pedal.

Why does my car shake after an accident?

If you’ve been in a car accident lately it is possible that a steering component could be causing vibration on your car. An impact can affect the tires and wheels as well as the suspension. If you’ve experienced a car accident, be sure to have Frank’s Servicenter do a comprehensive vehicle inspection. This way you can rest assured your car is in good shape.

Why Does My Car Shake At High Speeds?

When you're traveling at a high speed and feel your car shaking, it is possible the balance on your tires is off. Mechanics add small weights to the inside and outside of wheel rims to encourage the tire to spin perfectly at high velocities. If your tires are older, it’s possible the high-speed balance could be off. Tires should be rotated every 5,000 -6,000 miles and have the balance checked and adjusted every 10,000 - 12,000 miles.

Why Does My Car Shake When Idling?

The last thing to look out for if your car shakes is if it happens when the car isn’t moving. This could signal a broken engine mount, faulty spark plugs or even a dirty air or fuel filter. If you experience any abnormal shaking have the vehicle brought in for a diagnosis.

Whatever the situation, if your car is shaking Frank’s Servicenter can help you out. Schedule an appointment online now!
