A brake fluid flush is a crucial service should be performed at 30,000 miles. Over time dirt and debris will accumulate in the “brake fluid”. Dirt and debris enter the brake fluid through both the caliper seal and component wear. Fluid contamination is the leading cause of premature caliper failure. Moisture contamination is the most important factor in brake fluid. Due to extreme temperature change in the brake fluid, moisture will condense inside the fluid lowering the boiling point. This reduced boiling temperature leads to brake pedal fade and deterioration of hydraulic braking components.

On modern “Gas Direct Injected” or “GDI” vehicles, maintenance on fuel injection systems has become more important than ever. Due to the combustion of your engine, carbon builds up on valves, injector tips, and pistons. The GDI service will restore engine performance along with maintaining smooth idle. Not only will you feel a difference in throttle response, but will also prevent carbon build up to reduce the possibility of engine faults.

What is “TPMS”? TPMS stands for “Tire Pressure Monitoring System”. TPMS is a warning system indicating to the driver when a tire is significantly under-inflated. Beginning in September 2007, all new light duty vehicles sold in the U.S. are mandated to be equipped with TPMS. Most people ignore their tires, yet tires are undoubtedly a critical safety component. A tire can lose up to half of its pressure without appearing to be underinflated. The small battery operated sensors are located inside of the tire to prevent drivers operating their vehicle with unsafe low tire pressure.
With temperatures swinging in the 18966 area a common concern for drivers is a tire pressure warning light on the dashboard. Any time this light comes on you should check your tires ASAP. Some vehicle will have the ability to display individual tire pressures to indicate the problem area. Many times the issue is as simple as a minor pressure adjustment. A drop in pressure as little as 3 PSI can trigger the warning system. If you do find that your tire pressures have not been adjusted since the heat of the summer you should check to see if you are due for service heading into the winter months.

Top 5 reasons the heat in your car is not working.
1. The cooling/heating system is low on anti-freeze
2. The engine/cooling system is not getting to full temperature
3. The hot anti-freeze is not flowing through the “heater core”
4. The “heater” fan or “blower motor” is not working
5. The temperature control in your HVAC unit is inoperative
These are just a few broad strokes of why the heat in your car may not work. Winter is officially here! If you have no heat schedule an appointment to have the vehicle properly diagnosed.

Your car is equipped with an interior air filter just like your home. This “cabin filter” cleans the air that you breathe. It removes pollen, dirt and debris out of the car when the heating or air conditioning is running. Much like your home furnace filter or AC filter the cabin filter requires annual routine maintenance. The filter should be serviced every 12 months or 15,000 miles.

There are many different components in your car that can cause abnormal noises. The best thing that you can do is to identify when and where you hear the noises. Is the noise when the car is going fast or slow? Hot or cold? Front or rear? Left or right? is it all of the time or intermittently? If the noise is intermittent try to identify what conditions are present when the noise is there. All of these items will help your mechanic to identify the problematic area.
You may have been told by your mechanic that your car should have an “induction system service” also referred to as “throttle body service”. This is a valuable service that should be performed every 30,000 miles. Maintaining the induction system and throttle body will remove carbon buildup from the throttle plates and intake. This service will maintain the smooth operation of your vehicle and prevent expensive throttle body failures and running issues. Frank’s Servicenter uses BG products to service your induction system.

Cooling systems on modern vehicles have a much higher demand then in the past. New emissions standards demand vehicles to come to full operating temperature quickly and maintain this temperature with high demands and lean engine operating conditions. The antifreeze should be flushed every four years. Flushing the “coolant” will maintain proper PH levels and prevent scaling and corrosion within the system.

Hybrid battery repair does not always entail replacement of the high voltage battery. This first generation Prius high voltage battery has built up corrosion. The high voltage battery is made up of multiple smaller batteries tied together.
