DIY Cleaning Your Vehicle’s Headlights

Foggy or yellowed headlights can reduce visibility and safety. Here’s a simple DIY method to restore their clarity!

What You’ll Need:

  • Soap and water
  • Microfiber cloths
  • Masking tape
  • Sandpaper (1000-, 2000-, 3000-grit)
  • Plastic polish
  • UV-resistant sealant
  • Spray bottle with water
 

Steps:

  1. Wash the Headlights: Clean with soapy water, rinse, and dry.
  2. Tape the Area: Protect paint and trim with masking tape.
  3. Wet Sand:
    • Start with 1000-grit sandpaper, sanding horizontally.
    • Move to 2000-grit sandpaper, sanding vertically.
    • Finish with 3000-grit, sanding in circles. Keep the surface wet.
  4. Polish: Apply plastic polish with a microfiber cloth and buff until clear.
  5. Seal: Protect with a UV-resistant sealant to prevent future discoloration.
 

Tips:

  • Work in shade to avoid quick drying.
  • Use consistent pressure while sanding.
